2 Young

Just watched this

I highly recommend this movie. It reflects the attitude of today's youth. I can't believe I stored the vcd away for so long without watching it. I cried during several scenes too, because I could feel for the teenagers, yet feel the parent's pain. I didn't expect much from the two younger actors, Fiona Sit and Jaycee Chan, but they were actually pretty good in the movie. Thumbs up!

wow, how long has it been since i last touched this? Ever since I started my new job..which is about 2.5 months ago. I'm in the travel industry now.. and it is such a huge change going from a small family owned company to a corporation with its headquarters in Hong Kong. I'm learning so much more, exposed to so much more, and given much more opportunities. and they really appreciate everything I do.

We just hosted a conference last week.. I'll be off to LA at the end of the month to look at some venues for another event. Then to San Diego in August.. and Hong Kong in October. yay for free travel!!!

New Beginnings

This year marks a new beginning for me. Today was my last day at work... it was sad in the sense that I'll definetely miss all of my wonderful co-workers..they are like family to me.. especially my supervisor. She was like a sister/young mom to me. We both hugged and cried.

I look back upon my working life and I feel very fortunate to have landed that job right out of college. I had NO experience in that field whatsoever, and in the year that I've spent there, I've learned so much about that field and industry. However, it also reaffirmed my goal to pursue another career path.

Next Monday will mark the beginning of an entirely new career path for me. Different position. Different industry. Different corporate structure. I'm excited, yet nervous. Funny how life seems to sort itself out, doesn't it? 3 months ago I was questioning my existence and purpose in life.. today I couldn't be more happy and excited to start a whole new chapter in my life.

Is it only me.. or is this season's "Bachelorette" really really boring? First of all, Jen doesn't have many nice things to say about the men. Second of all, the rose ceremonies are no longer the "most dramatic". and lastly, none of guys intrigue me much. I don't know..but I like Trista more. She was a natural in front of the camera, she had nice things to say about the men...and she scored RYAN - the fireman!!!!

Part I
J, my friend B, and I are shopping at the mall and I am wearing a down jacket because it was really cold outside. I was too lazy to take it off and hold it in the mall.

J: Babe, are you hot?
Me: Nope
J: Well, I think you are ^.^

Part II
Dinner at Buca Di Beppo with my family to celebrate new beginnings. I was telling my brother-in-laws the story of how each of my siblings got their scars. S fell on her chin. M fell on her forehead. R fell on his knees.

Brother-in-law: Nancy, how 'bout you? How did you fall?
J: She fell for me ^.^

Whole family is silent. Then Brother goes.. "oh PUH-LEASE".... then family laughts.

Good times...good times....

don't you just love good deals?

J and I were at Target the other day looking for a photo album, because our current one is all filled up, and I have tons of photos from our past trips to Vancouver, Seattle, Tahoe, yada yada yada.. I wasn't really impressed with Target's selection, until J picked a 2-set fabric cream colored album wrapped in a light blue bow. It was really pretty and I liked it alot, so we went to the self-price check station to scan the price. To my disappointment, the UPC code wasn't recognizable! So we took it to guest services, and the girl there told us its a Christmas item so they can't sell it and will have to throw it away. I was like..WHAT?!! You'd rather throw it away than let me pay for it? I asked to see the manager, whom, very nicely, said that I could buy it.. and guess how much it came up to? $2.99.. well $3.24 after tax.. and that just made my day! Funny how the simple things in life can make us so happy, doesn't it?

I went to dinner with some friends last night, and one girlfriend had to use the restroom for a #2, so she asked me to go with her. I agreed, thinking that I'll just stand outside and wait for her. Little did I know that she would INSIST that i stay in the restroom with her while she does her deed. When I suggest waiting for her outside, she said, "You should NEVER use the restroom in public places alone! Didn't you get the email about the Hillsdale mall incident?".... and she said that she will only take a couple minutes...

How did the couple minutes turn out to 10+ minutes? and when I squeezed my nose, she felt really offended because according to her, "it doesn't smell THAT bad".

Common sense would have it that after our little trip to the restroom, I completely lost my appetite..and the sad part? We had buffet...

I was watching "Trading Spouses" last nite, and suprisingly, it was pretty good. Basically, two fathers from different families switch off for a week. The country-side father is from Georgia and the city-side father is from NY. It was interesting to watch them react in awe to the other family's living habits. I felt for the Georgia-father, because he seems so humble.. and the NY-family's mother is some senior VP and she is such a b*tch.. she took him out to "Tavern on the Green" for dinner and he said, "this is the nicest restaurant i've ever been to"..and she's like. "this is nothing."..and i felt like she was insulting him when she asked him what kind of wine he preferred and she busted out in all these different names and caught him dumbfounded.

****

J and I had the chance of seeing current mayor Gavin Newsom, and then we bumped into former mayor Willie Brown! and out of all places, on the bus!! We took the bus to chinatown for dim sum, and on our way back, I hopped on and took a seat. J was right behind me,..then suddenly, he looked over my shoulder and said, "Willie Brown. nice to meet you, sir" and they shook hands. I was like.. ???..for a moment. Then I glanced over and it was indeed Mr.Brown. Then i said, "nice to meet you, willie brown" and we shook hands.

****

My sister's baby shower took place last weekend..and reality has finally hit home. I can't wait for the arrival of my nephew!! He is going to be so adorable because he's a filipino/chinese mixed. I got my sister a frame from redenvelope.com ..its the one where you can imprint the baby's hand and foot onto a clay-mixture.
THIS is too cute.

I will never ever EVER work for any Mercedes-Benz event again! The LoveMercedes Tour 2004 was held this weekend in the bay area.. and it was 3 days of fog, mist, and cold for me. I stood for 9 hours a day for 3 days....and my legs are killing me now! I thought that doing this as a sidejob for some extra cash would be fun, but boy was I wrong!

Anyways, on a happier note, I will be going to New York on labor day weekend for a Hong Kong celebrity event that my company is putting on... which means travel + shopping + HK celebrities = whopee!
Gilroy Garlic Festival

Although living in So. Cal has its perks (beaches, sunny weather, shopping...), I assume one of the perks of living in Nor. Cal is the annual Gilroy Garlic Festival. I was there with some friends yesterday and I cannot stress enough how hot it was.. my eyes felt like they were burning!

Nevertheless, I got to try the popular "Garlic ice cream", along with some garlic bread, crawfish, calamari, sandwich, and fries. My stay there was short but sweet. It was just nice to spend a sunday with some friends and J.

bitter melon juice

Have any of you guys ever heard of "Bitter Melon Juice"? Its 5 greens blended into a drink.... the greens usually consist of -celery, green bell pepper, green apples, cucumbers, and of course the most important ingredient - Bitter Melon.

I have been drinking a cup each morning religously for a couple months now. Supposedly this juice helps your digestive track, cholesterol, and weight loss. My dad has been drinking it for over a year and his weight loss has been significant.. well over 15 pounds. My once chubby dad is now a slim, fit man.

Somehow I think my body adjusted to the juice everyday...and now if I don't drink it... I don't feel good..like I'm not complete or anything. My mom says I rely too heavily on it and she's only making it for me every other day.

Also... I know that drinking too much carrot juice can make a person turn red/orange....but can drinking too much bitter melon juice make you turn GREEN???

so i think that Jessica Simpson's "Dessert Beauty" line is way overhyped and overpriced..but of course i have to fall into the hype and see what the big deal is about. i ordered some stuff from Sephora and got the Dessert "Creamy" perfume sample.. and I rubbed some on my wrist..it smells like fresh baked Betty Crocker Vanilla cake.. all sweet and creamy (my favorite)

and what did I do next???

I LICKED MY WRIST!!!!!!

eww.. i know, but its sweet! =P I'm SOLD! i love it! and its at a costly $45 for a 1.7 oz bottle! =(

funny...

I just thought of a funny incident during my trip to Vancouver..

Canadian currency comes in the form of coins for $1 and $2.. so when my co-worker exchanged money for me, he gave me all the change in a company envelope. When I got to Vancouver, since I did not want to put the change in my wallet because I would get the coins mixed up, I just kept them in the envelope...

soo... everytime we had to pay, I would bust out with my envelope (ghetto, i know) and dig through the coins for the correct change. J was so embarassed that he said, "please do not take out the ghetto envelope in public" (in a joking way, of course).

i thought that was pretty funny..thats all ;)

I thought "Bowling for Columbine" provided a stunning look of how gun control affected America..and it certainly changed some of my opinions on families owning guns for "protection purposes".

Fahrenheit 9/11 is another documentary made by Michael Moore that looks into the causes of the war and policies set by Bush after 9/11 .. this will be an interesting one, especially since its premiere is this summer and the DVD will be released right before elections.
